Indiana Inmate Communication Overview
Indiana operates its state prison system through the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC). ViaPath Technologies through ConnectNetwork handles phone calls at all IDOC state facilities. For questions about calling options contact ViaPath at 877-650-4249. Each incarcerated individual must complete and sign a telephone list identifying no more than 20 names and phone numbers of approved contacts. You must be on this approved list before calls can connect to your number.
Indiana IDOC has transitioned to GettingOut.com for digital correspondence including electronic messages and photos. Friends and family must create a new account at gettingout.com to send messages and photos. After the transition, PIN debit funds added through ConnectNetwork work for both phone calls and tablet services under a unified account. IDOC has a designated intake facility for each population group. Adult males go to the Reception Diagnostic Center. Adult females go to Rockville Correctional Facility.
Indiana is not among the states that offer free inmate phone calls. Families pay per-minute rates subject to FCC caps. Collect calls cannot be made to cell phones, office phones, or hospital numbers. For cell phone users, setting up a ConnectNetwork prepaid account is required. Find the DOC number and facility location using the IDOC incarcerated locator at in.gov/idoc.

What is the most common mistake Indiana prison families make?
Not being on the approved telephone list is the most common mistake. Each incarcerated person can have no more than 20 names on their call list. If your number is not on the list, calls cannot connect regardless of whether you have a ConnectNetwork account. Also, collect calls cannot be made to cell phones. Cell phone users must set up a ConnectNetwork prepaid account to receive calls.
