Illinois Prison Communication Directory

Illinois operates its state prison system through the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). ICSolutions is the current provider for phone calls, electronic messaging, and video visits at all IDOC facilities except Adult Transition Centers. Illinois recently switched from GTL to ICSolutions for both phone and video services. Illinois launched the Voices of Connection program providing incarcerated people with 775 free domestic phone call minutes per month. The program launched in November 2025 and was extended after seeing significant increase in usage. Calls are limited to 20 minutes each with a 10-minute lockout period between calls. People under phone privilege restrictions cannot access free minutes. Families still need a registered ICSolutions account to receive calls.

Starting September 30, 2025, IDOC scans or photocopies all non-privileged mail including letters, cards, and photos before delivery. Publications must now be mailed directly by the publisher. Money can be sent by money order with the individual IDOC number and sender name and address included. The IDOC number must appear on all mail. You can also get deposit slips from each facility or through JPay for commissary deposits.
